Ford Motor Company recently announced a design plan for central Michigan in the United States-a neighborhood reconstruction project covering an area of about 12hm2 in Detroit. This is an inclusive, vibrant and walkable transportation innovation community centered on Michigan Central Station, designed by PAU (Practice for Architecture and Urbanism). The site plan is based on an 18-month process of community participation. The abandoned railway site behind Central Station will be transformed into a shared path for walking and cycling, while providing Ford Motor Company with an “open, multifunctional landscape” , Automakers and their innovation partners can test and showcase emerging technologies such as autonomous vehicles and mini-motorcycles here.

The artificial island designed by the Italian architect Angelo Renna aims to clean up and protect one of the most biologically diverse corners of the Mediterranean: the Pelagos Sanctuary. The island combines 3D printing technology and knowledge of marine biology. The prototype includes two parts: a container and a collector, including both land and underwater structures. This island can not only provide habitat for marine life and birds, but also collect harmful microplastics from the water. At the same time, the island can also be used as a “floating laboratory” to provide researchers with real-time data on ocean conditions.

The team experience with Victoria, Kaji, and Chenlu is really good. At the first stage, we discussed the site situation, each of us contributed site information based on the research process, including groundwater level, social factors, and transportation situation. Then, in the second stage, we combine what we had for the first stage and works on the analytical map. I made the first iteration of our plan, specifically focusing on the natural factors.
